Basic Training for Detention Personnel

This course was developed as an introduction for the detention professional and meets the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s basic training requirements for jail personnel.

Topics include: 

  • Emergency Procedures
  • Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures
  • Jail Standards
  • Preventing Jail Suicide
  • Prisoner Rules and Regulations
  • Report Writing
  • Rights and Responsibilities of Prisoners
  • Security Concerns 
  • Supervision of Prisoners

Participants must have a current CPR/First Aid card prior to attending the course.  Completion of the course qualifies the participant to sit for the test administered by the State Jail Inspector.  The course is approved for 16 hours of continuing education credit by CLEET as well as 2 hours of mental health credit.  There is no cost to attend the course.
